Mr. D. G. Jayarathna is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with more than 35 years experience in wide range of Quantity Surveying in Building and Civil Engineering works. He started his Quantity Surveying carrier in 1973 as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor in the State Engineering Corporation and was later appointed to a post of Assistant Quantity Surveyor, which position he held up to his departure to Oman in 1976. In Oman he served as a Quantity Surveyor for an International Contracting Firm Taylor Woodrow Towel & Co. Ltd when he gained wider knowledge and experience in quantity surveying practice.
On his return to Sri Lanka Mr. Jayarathna rejoined the State Engineering Corporation and worked for a period of one year. In 1979 he joined Development Consultants (Lanka), Deveco a private Chartered Architectural & Engineering Consultancy firm as their Senior Quantity Surveyor and was entrusted the task of formation quantity surveying unit. In 1982 he was promoted as the Chief Quantity Surveyor there. During his 8 years service in this firm, he had the opportunity to gain more experience in managing large contracts ranging from 10 Million to 400 Million in value. In 1985, he was admitted to Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Sri Lanka as a corporate Member and in 1996 he was admitted to the Grade of Fellow Membership of the Institute.
In 1987, he resigned from Deveco and formed an independent quantity surveying firm, Cost Consultancy Services with Mr. H. D. Chandrasena who is the current Chairman of the company.
Mr. Jayarathna is in charge of general administration of the organization and also involved in quantity surveying function and contract administration of the several major projects handled by the organization.
